Texas Real Estate Sales Agent Exam — Cheat Sheet

Fast-reference facts and rules for exam day. Bold numbers are the ones to memorize.

Exam Logistics at a Glance

  • Time limit: 240 minutes (4 hours) total.
  • Exam fee: $43 per Sales examination attempt.
  • Structure: Two separately-scored parts — a National section and a State section. You must pass both.
  • Delivery: Administered by Pearson VUE.

Passing Scores — Both Sections Required

  • National section: 56 questions correct to pass.
  • State section: 28 questions correct to pass.
  • The two sections are scored independently — passing one does not carry over to the other. Missing the mark on either means that section must be retaken.

Time-Management Rule of Thumb

With 240 minutes available and two sections to clear (56 national + 28 state correct-answer targets), pace yourself so you never spend more than about a minute per question on the first pass. Flag hard items, keep moving, and reserve time at the end to revisit flagged questions — leaving no answer blank, since unanswered items count against your correct-answer totals.

Must-Remember Numbers

  • 240 — minutes to complete the exam.
  • 56 — correct answers needed on the National section.
  • 28 — correct answers needed on the State section.
  • $43 — the Sales examination fee.

Day-Of Strategy

  • Answer every question — there is a correct-answer threshold to hit on each section, so a blank can only hurt you.
  • Since national and state are scored separately, treat them as two mini-exams and budget the 240 minutes across both.
  • Build in a review pass to confirm you have met at least the 56 national and 28 state correct-answer targets.
